Under The Horse Sea

Nine months…
I started this piece in 2011, and for years it sat on my wall. I knew it wasn’t finished—there was something more in it, something I hadn’t seen yet.
I kept coming back to it, looking, waiting… until one day it shifted.
What revealed itself was an undersea world—a hidden space within the painting. A cave. Quiet, alive, holding something beneath the surface.
From that space, the seahorse emerged—floating, waiting… carrying something yet to be born.
This piece became about patience—about allowing something to take form in its own time.
Not everything reveals itself right away. Some things live beneath the surface… until they’re ready.

UnderSea Peace
This piece settles into stillness—an underwater space where everything moves, but nothing rushes.
The dolphins glide effortlessly, not just through water, but through a sense of calm—like they belong completely to the moment.
Color surrounds them, alive and flowing, but never overwhelming. It feels balanced… like a world that exists in harmony with itself.
This work is about peace—not the absence of movement, but the presence of ease within it.
A reminder that even in constant motion, there’s a place where everything feels at rest.

Crabby Patty
This piece came from a memory—walking the beach in Corpus Christi, where these little creatures seemed to take over the shoreline.
They were everywhere… scattered across the sand like they owned it.
There’s something both playful and bold about that—this tiny presence claiming space in a much bigger world.
Set against the calm of the ocean, the crab becomes the focus—grounded, alert, and completely at home.
This work holds onto that moment—where the beach wasn’t just a place, but something alive… full of personality, movement, and quiet confidence.

Solitude
In Solitude, the viewer is invited into a quiet coastal moment where nature and memory coexist. A vibrant sunset bathes the scene in golden-orange light, contrasting with the deep blues of the sea. A lone egret stands at the water’s edge, its stillness mirrored by the leaning palm that frames it, while a carved ancestral figure watches from the shore. The painting explores the interplay between reflection, isolation, and connection—between the human presence and the natural world.

The figure’s gaze toward the horizon evokes memory and introspection, while the serene ocean and drifting birds suggest both freedom and contemplation.
Solitude transforms a fleeting moment of stillness into a meditation on presence, remembrance, and the quiet power of nature.
