I have always been in LOVE with Art. The articulation of what is going on in my mind, heart and soul and laying it out in some form of expression has always given me great joy and peace. In one form or another I have pursued these interests throughout my life.
My Mother was my teacher or should I say encourager. She placed a pencil in my hand at a very young age and taught me to draw. I have fond memories of trying to mimic her as she sat during the Watergate trials and sketched Erlichman and Haldeman, among others, while I drew cars and castles. I continued in school to take Art classes and excelled in these because of my great love for the Arts.
I began painting with Oils in my late twenties, mainly focusing on landscapes and I truly fell in love with the medium. I later worked for 2 different Photography labs and helped establish digital labs at both locations using Photoshop as an editing tool. During the fourteen years I spent there, I created many pieces of art.
Eventually I returned to painting and transitioned into acrylics, exploring portraits, abstracts, realism and surrealism. I also branched into sculpture for a time creating painted pieces using mica powders, inks and acrylics. Today I work with acrylics, oils, mixed media, mica powders, inks and textures — often combining techniques and experimenting with styles, including Baroque - style portraits.
I feel I am still evolving as an artist, which allows me a great deal of creative freedom. I go where my imagination takes me and use whatever medium feels right in the moment. My goal is to project love, beauty and peace into the pieces I create.
Whenever I get stuck I often plug in my headphones and walk the City downtown taking photos at night for inspiration. This always seems to give me a creative boost. I continue to feel excited about my Digital and Photographic Art and I look forward to where each new piece will take me and what will show up on my canvas....
JMAC Art Studio was created so I can show my diverse work with the public.
My work spans Realism, Surrealism, Portraits, Abstracts, Photographic Art, Digital Art, Photography, Photo Restorations as well as Custom Digital Creation
